App Privacy Notice

This notice covers the Stampede volunteer portal and the Stampede Tactics app (web and Android). It supplements Pro-Animal Future's general Privacy Policy. Where the two differ about the apps, this notice governs.

1. Who we are

These apps are tools for our own volunteers. They are not advertising products. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.

2. What the apps collect

3. Why we collect location

Location is the core of how the field tools work. Specifically, we use it to:

show your position on the walk map and record the route you covered, so a canvass isn't walked twice;
place and retrieve field markers — houses visited, signs posted, responses logged, best-spot heatmaps;
show teammates' positions to each other during a shared shift, and let you meet up;
give walking, biking, and transit directions to your next shift;
confirm attendance at an event when you are near its location.

Continuous tracking runs only while you have a walk or field session active. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app keeps working without it.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf, and only as needed:

Google Firebase / Google Cloud — hosting, sign-in, and the database where app data is stored (United States).
Twilio — sending and receiving text messages.
OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, Overpass, and OSRM — map tiles, address search, and route planning. When the app draws a map or plans a route, your approximate coordinates are sent to these services so they can answer the request.
Google Fonts — page typography, which involves your IP address reaching Google.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect the safety of our volunteers.

5. What other volunteers can see

Organizers can see your volunteer activity and the field data you record — that is the point of the tool. During a shared shift, teammates can see your position on the map. Your home address is visible only to staff with an organizing role, and is never shown to other volunteers.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep volunteer records for as long as you are involved with Pro-Animal Future and for as long as we need them for campaign reporting. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing admin@proanimal.org. We will confirm when it is done. Some records may be retained where the law requires it, such as petition signatures already submitted to a public authority.

7. Age

The Google Play listing for Stampede Tactics declares a target audience of 18 and over, and we intend the Android app for adult volunteers. Stampede, and the web version of Tactics, are intended for volunteers aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top of this page.
